Stand Up for LGBT Elders: Tell the Senate to Pass the Equality Act
Discrimination is still commonplace for LGBTQ+ Americans. Federal LGBTQ+ nondiscrimination protections like the ones outlined in the Equality Act would ensure that all LGBTQ+ Americans can live, work, and access public spaces free from discrimination, no matter what state they call home.
This is especially crucial for our LGBTQ+ pioneers who have waited long enough for this vital legislation.
Whether you are an LGBTQ+ elder, part of the LGBTQ+ community, or an ally, you can refuse to be invisible and make your voice heard. Now is the time to tell Congress to pass the Equality Act, because all LGBTQ+ people deserve to feel safe from discrimination, no matter where in this country they live.
Congress should act now to pass the Equality Act, to permanently provide indispensable protections that will help LGBTQ+ older people age with the health, dignity and respect everyone deserves.
Make a call and send a letter now to remind your senators that LGBTQ+ elders refuse to be invisible.

LGBT older people cannot wait any longer for the Equality Act!
Discrimination is still commonplace for LGBT people and it disproportionately affects LGBT older adults in housing, long term care, and healthcare settings. They shouldn’t be forced to endure years of litigation in order to access their basic needs like housing and healthcare, nor should they be forced to be dependent on the composition of the Supreme Court or the executive branch. Stand with LGBT elders as they refuse to be invisible by sending a letter to your representatives telling them to support the Equality Act.
Feel free to add a personal message and share your own story about why LGBT elders need these protections. Adding a personal touch helps make your letter stand out and telling your authentic story is one of the best ways to convince an elected official to do the right thing and take action. Tell a story of a time you, a family member, a friend, or a coworker experienced discrimination and why federal protections are necessary - but remember to keep it brief!
We have an uphill battle with opponents from the right spreading misinformation about what the Equality Act would mean for this country.
Help us counter that by sharing this action on social media and sending it to your friends and family. The more voices Congress hears in support of LGBT elders, the closer we get to finally passing the protections they've been waiting and fighting for.
